Description
A pinch scoop made from untreated beechwood, by Burstenhaus Redecker. 3.25” (8cm).
Why it’s here
Some objects don’t need improving. The rolling pin, the flour sifter, the mortar and pestle — these are forms that have been refined over centuries of daily use and arrived, long ago, at something close to perfect. Redecker understands this. Their kitchen and household tools are made from natural materials, designed without fuss, and built to reveal their character with use in a way that plastic never can. The kind of things you leave out on the counter rather than hide in a drawer.
We grew up with Redecker in English and Swedish kitchens, where the instinct has always been to reach for something well made and natural rather than something disposable and soulless. When we started Homestedt, carrying them was never really a question.
Burstenhaus Redecker have been making natural household tools in the Teutoburg Forest region of Germany since 1935. A family workshop, now in its third generation, that has spent nearly a century making things the right way. The designs haven’t changed much. They didn’t need to. Everything is made from natural biodegradable materials, ships plastic-free, and when a piece finally wears out, it goes back to the earth rather than a landfill.
What you’re getting
For exactly that — a pinch. A small measure of salt, a little spice, a careful amount of anything that deserves a considered hand rather than a guess. The smallest of the Redecker scoop range, and the most precise.
Untreated beechwood develops a warm patina with use. A simple object that does one thing well.
