Why it's here

Most salt and pepper shakers are forgettable on purpose. Plain glass, plain steel, designed to disappear into the table. This pair takes the opposite approach. Two small green cabbages, sitting on the table looking like they wandered in from a garden bed.

It's the kind of detail that makes a meal feel a little less ordinary. Not a centerpiece, not a conversation piece exactly — just a small piece of cheerful, well-observed sculpture that happens to do the job of holding salt and pepper. Designed in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, by a small studio that takes its cues from the produce of the surrounding farmland and the timeless tradition of pottery shaped in the image of what grows nearby.

What you're getting

A pair of dolomite ceramic shakers, one for salt and one for pepper, each shaped as a small cabbage with hand-painted detail on the leaves. The size is intentionally compact — about 2.5" tall — so they sit unobtrusively at a place setting and travel easily to the table.

Sold as a pair. Cork stoppers underneath.

Care: Dishwasher safe, though we'd hand wash to preserve the painted detail over time.
