Description
A butter dish with a Friesian cow for a lid — the classic black-and-white dairy cow you've seen in every English pasture. Lift the Friesian cow off, butter underneath, ready for breakfast toast or a soft loaf at dinner.
Keeps a standard stick of butter at table-soft temperature without drying it out. Sized for the regular dinner table — not so big it dominates, not so small it disappears.
Dimensions: Base approx. 15 x 11 cm; lid approx. 11.5 x 10 cm
Why it's here: Quail Ceramics has been part of our co-owner Tom's life from the very beginning — they're designed in Stoke-on-Trent, the English pottery town where he grew up. Every piece is hand-painted, and none of them are made just to look at: they're all built around a job — a salt shaker, a jug, a pencil pot, a vase, an egg cup. Quail is our favorite easy way to bring a little rural whimsy into a room. A Friesian cow keeping the butter on the table — that small pop of personality on an otherwise ordinary surface is exactly the point.
What you're getting: One hand-painted Friesian cow butter dish — a two-piece set with removable lid and base.
Care: Hand-painted stoneware. Dishwasher safe; we'd still recommend the top rack and a gentle cycle for the long-term life of the painted detail. Not suitable for microwave or oven use.
