Jam Spoon - European Olivewood

Description

A long olive wood spoon for the jam jar — narrow handle, shallow bowl, the right shape for scooping preserves without smearing the rim. Made by Redecker, one of Germany's oldest family-run makers of natural-fibre kitchen tools.

Why it's here: Olive wood is one of our favourite materials in the kitchen and dining room. The tight grain makes it tough and naturally resilient to bacteria, not to mention beautiful — every piece is unique and handmade, with patterning that runs differently through each cut. We source ours from European olive trees whose branches are pruned each year as part of the agricultural cycle of harvesting olives, which makes it one of the most sustainable hardwoods you can put in a kitchen.

What you're getting: One oiled olive wood jam spoon by Redecker. Approx. 22 cm long.

Care: Do not put in the dishwasher. Hand wash only. If the wood starts to look dry, rub a little olive oil into the grain with a paper or cotton towel — the lustre will come right back.
