Cheese & Nutmeg Grater - European Olivewood

Description

A small olive wood grater with a stainless steel grating surface and a built-in catch drawer that collects the grated cheese (or nutmeg) without losing a flake. Hard parmesan, pecorino, gruyère, or a whole nutmeg — they all become a pasta-finishing flurry over the dish.

Why it's here: Olive wood is one of our favourite materials in the kitchen and dining room. The tight grain makes it tough and naturally resilient to bacteria, not to mention beautiful — every piece is unique and handmade, with patterning that runs differently through each cut. We source ours from European olive trees whose branches are pruned each year as part of the agricultural cycle of harvesting olives, which makes it one of the most sustainable hardwoods you can put in a kitchen.

Care: Do not put in the dishwasher. Hand wash only. If the wood starts to look dry, rub a little olive oil into the grain with a paper or cotton towel — the lustre will come right back.
