Ceramic Lemon Dish

Description

A small ceramic dish shaped and glazed like a halved lemon, useful for olive pits, used tea bags, jewellery on the dresser, or wherever a small dish is wanted.

Dimensions: 3" H x 6" W x 4" D. Dolomite ceramic.

Why it's here

Some objects are practical and some are decorative, and the most useful ones are both. A small dish that looks like a lemon is the latter. It gives you somewhere to put the things that small dishes hold — olive pits, sugar packets, a watch you took off, an earring before bed — and it makes you faintly happy every time you walk past it.

Designed in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, by a small studio drawing on the classic rural tradition of pottery shaped in the form of what grows in the kitchen garden. The yellow is a bright, ripe color, painted by hand on dolomite ceramic.

A dolomite ceramic dish, hand-shaped and painted to resemble half a lemon. Compact and shallow — about 6" long and 3" tall — so it fits comfortably on a counter, a side table, or a dresser. Works as a soap dish, a catch-all, a serving piece for olives or nuts at a small gathering.

Sold individually.

Care: Hand wash with mild soap. Not recommended for the dishwasher; the painted detail will last longer that way.
