Why it's here

Chindi rugs are made by tearing fabric into strips and weaving them back together. The technique is hundreds of years old, born from the simple practical truth that good cotton, even in worn-out form, deserves another life. What comes out of the loom is something new but obviously not new — a textile with the slight unevenness and color variation of all hand-made things.

The result is a rug that feels rural in the best sense. Made entirely from natural cotton fibers, with knotted tassels at each end and a softly textured surface that softens further with use. It's the kind of small textile that finds a place by a kitchen door, in front of a wood stove, or at the foot of a bed.
